CALGARY, Monday, February 21, 2022 – On February 19 and 20, karate athletes from across the country competed in Calgary, Alberta to determine the rankings for the upcoming Pan American Championships to be held in Curacao in May 2022.

A total of 87 athletes from 7 different provinces competed for rankings in 16 categories in kata, kumite, team kata and para-karate.

This event is a first for Karate Canada since the pandemic. The pandemic caused the cancellation of 2 selection events since 2020. This was a return to national level competitions for all stakeholders.
