Squash recommended for 2028 Olympic Sport Program

The LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games announced its official proposal for new Olympic sports yesterday and, with tremendous excitement, squash has made the shortlist for recommendation. Squash Canada is incredibly pleased with this announcement and commends LA28 for including squash in the
recommendation list.

The LA28 organizing committee had the opportunity to consider including new sports for its edition of the Olympic Games. Through a very length process called the Request for Information (RFI), squash was
selected as a recommended sport based on its assessment including economic responsibility, gender equality, sport integrity, fan interest, youth relevance, and more.

This is a great step forward for squash and theInternational Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board will review the recommendation list for ratification. A decision will be made at the 141st IOC Session in Mumbai on October 16th, 2023.
