Sport Tourism senior management consulting firms part ways with Sport Tourism Canada

(Tuesday, December 13, 2022) … After more than 20 years of providing senior management expertise, Organisports Consultants and iSPARK Consulting have decided to conclude their involvement with Sport Tourism Canada (STC). Both firms will continue to be active in the sport tourism industry following the conclusion of their contracts with STC that are set to end later this month.

Eric Savard who served as STC’s Head of Consulting and Transfer of Knowledge through his firm Organisports Consultants, developed many of the best-in-class tools used by all STC members to seek out, bid, host and execute outstanding sport events. Recognized internationally for his work on major sport bids and event planning, he also consulted on event management as one of STC’s group of expert consultants, recently leading that initiative.

“Over the past 20 years, I have been proud to contribute to the development of STC, recognized worldwide as a leader in the sport tourism industry,” declared Eric Savard, President of Organisports Consultants.  “However, in the last months, governance challenges were identified but not addressed. I care too much about this industry to remain inactive and I will continue to develop and facilitate access to industry tools. I will continue to provide my consulting services to all sport tourism industry stakeholders.”

Krista Benoit, as the part-time Executive Director, Marketing & Events, developed and managed STC’s marketing, sponsorship and communications programs, as well as supported the Economic Impact Analysis teams and served as one of STC’s expert consultants. Through her firm, iSPARK Consulting, she brought together the team of people who planned and executed the annual Sport Events Congress and created the popular [un] GOLF / Sport Tourism FORE-um event.

“I have enjoyed the opportunity to work with Sport Tourism Canada since 2003 and am incredibly proud of my role and that of my team in building the sport tourism industry in Canada,” said Krista Benoit, President & CEO of iSPARK Consulting. “Although I will miss the daily interaction with STC members, I look forward to continuing to provide sport tourism consulting services through my sport-inspired and business-driven team at iSPARK.”

In addition, Mike LaLeune, of MMHL Consulting who acted as Interim COO at Sport Tourism Canada and who worked closely with Organisports Consultants and iSPARK Consulting in his leadership role, has concluded his four-month term in the position.
