Canada’s Sport Hall of Fame – SPORT + SPIRIT NEWS
Happy Holidays!

As 2019 comes to a close, we ask you to consider making a donation to Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame’s National Education Programs so we can continue to deliver the incredible stories of our Hall of Famers and their valuable life lessons that go well beyond sport to students across the country.
The funds raised will be used to continue to build Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame’s education programs. Whether it’s our Beyond the Win – Hall of Famers on Tour assembly-style, in-school presentations, our Virtual Visits that connect us with schools via video conferencing, or our In-House Programs, all of our education programs feature Hall of Famers who have reached the pinnacle of their careers and are going “beyond their wins” to return value to their communities. We are teaching youth that performance is more than strength, speed and agility – it’s integrity, empathy and optimism. We demonstrate that sport is a critical backbone for diversity, inclusion and accessibility and when it comes to our shared values, sport speaks for all of us.

At our 64th Induction Festival, David Arrigo created an original painting of our Class of 2019, Alexandre Bilodeau, Colette Bourgonje, Martin Brodeur, Jayna Hefford, Waneek Horn-Miller, Vicki Keith, Guylaine Bernier and Doug Mitchell, that was meant to be auctioned off that evening with all proceeds going to support our education programs. Due to time constraints, we were unable to host the live auction and we would like to present an online auction for this one-of-a-kind painting signed by all eight Class of 2019 Inductees!

The painting would be great for corporate offices and if you are the successful bidder, we are pleased to include two complimentary tickets (valued at $2,500) to attend the 65th Induction Festival on October 21, 2020 in Toronto (excluding airfare and accommodations)!

Please email your bids to Marnie at mkrell@cshof.ca by December 20, 2019.

This is one of two ways in which you can support our education programs. You can also donate online or, if you prefer, you can call 403.776.1083 to speak with our team directly. A tax receipt will be issued for donations greater than $20. We greatly appreciate your support.

New Exhibit
PLAY HARD, FIGHT HARD: SPORT AND THE CANADIAN MILITARY

As part of our 64th Induction Festival, we unveiled our brand new Play Hard, Fight Hard: Sport and the Canadian Military 2D exhibit in partnership with the Military Museums of Calgary. This is a bilingual pop-up travelling exhibit sponsored by Canada Company and AMJ Campbell representing fourteen sports played by military teams and athletes from the 1880s to the present day. It also includes sections about the Soldier On program and the origins of the Paralympic Games and Invictus Games.

We, at Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame, endeavor to have our activations and exhibits reach communities across the country. The Leaderpost wrote a great article highlighting a few of the great stories included in this travelling exhibit.
