Sport Nova Scotia Announces Cleve’s Source for Sports August Impact Award Recipients

August 29, 2025 (Halifax, NS) – Sport Nova Scotia is proud to announce the Cleve’s Source for
Sports August Impact Award recipients are Grace Theunissen (Female Athlete) and Elex Lockhart
(Male Athlete).

Female Athlete: Grace Theunissen, Canoe Sprint

Achievements: In July, Grace Theunissen won gold alongside her three teammates in the C4 Junior
Women 500m event at the 2025 ICF Canoe Sprint Junior and U23 World Championships in
Portugal. Grace is a member of Dartmouth’s Banook Canoe Club.

Male Athlete: Elex Lockhart, Baseballà

Achievements: Elex Lockhart, a member of the Berwick Bobcats Baseball U18A team, received the
MVP award in two of the four games played in a tournament in Sydney, Nova Scotia this past July.
He is a strong first baseman, does some pitching and catching and has a solid batting average. Elex
exemplifies sportsmanship through encouraging his teammates, recognizing his opponents,
respecting the umpires and playing hard every time he steps on the field.
