Hamilton, ON: The International Skating Union (ISU) has awarded the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships® 2022 to Skate Canada, who will host the event in Hamilton, Ontario. This top-tier event will be held at FirstOntario Centre from April 7-9, 2022.

“Skate Canada is delighted to be heading back to Hamilton for the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships. Skate Canada has a rich history of holding successful ISU sanctioned events and we are looking forward to bringing the world’s best synchronized skaters to Hamilton in 2022,” said Debra Armstrong, CEO, Skate Canada. “Hamilton is a vibrant city that possesses all the necessary elements to carry out a successful event and we know athletes and fans will enjoy all aspects of these championships. We’re also thrilled to reveal the official logo for the championships, today.”

The ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships is an annual event that moves around the world, showcasing 25 teams from 20 ISU member nations, competing for the world title.

Skate Canada has a long and proud history of hosting ISU events, having previously held the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships three times. This is the second time Hamilton has been selected to host the event, previously having hosted in 2015. Canada has also hosted the championships in London in 2007 and Ottawa in 2003.

“The City of Hamilton is proud to welcome back the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships to our city in 2022,” said Fred Eisenberger, Mayor of Hamilton. “Hamilton has a rich history in hosting premium International and National skating events, including the highly successful 2015 ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships. We are excited to once again work with Skate Canada to create another memorable experience for all competitors, sponsors, officials, dignitaries and skating fans. A Task Force has been assembled by my office for economic recovery in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and with this positive announcement today, to a sector that has been greatly impacted by COVID-19, signifies an increasing level of economic recovery.”

Hamilton (Ont.) – L’Union internationale de patinage (ISU) a confié, à Patinage Canada, la tenue des Championnats du monde ISU de patinage synchronisé 2022, qui auront lieu à Hamilton, en Ontario. Cet événement de haut niveau se tiendra à FirstOntario Centre, du 7 au 9 avril 2022.

« Patinage Canada se réjouit de retourner à Hamilton, à l’occasion des Championnats du monde ISU de patinage synchronisé. Patinage Canada compte une riche tradition de tenue d’événements sanctionnés par l’ISU et couronnés de succès et nous sommes impatients de réunir les meilleurs patineurs synchronisés au monde à Hamilton, en 2022 », a déclaré Debra Armstrong, chef de la direction générale de Patinage Canada. « Hamilton est une ville dynamique qui possède tous les éléments nécessaires pour assurer le succès de l’événement et nous savons que les athlètes et les partisans profiteront de tous les aspects de ces championnats. Événement annuel, les Championnats du monde ISU de patinage synchronisé se déroulent à divers endroits à travers le monde et 25 équipes de vingt pays membres de l’ISU se disputent le titre mondial.

Depuis longtemps, Patinage Canada est fier d’accueillir des événements de l’ISU, ayant déjà tenu à trois reprises les Championnats du monde ISU de patinage synchronisé. Il s’agira de la deuxième fois que Hamilton présentera l’événement, en ayant déjà été l’hôte en 2015. Le Canada a aussi organisé les championnats à London, en 2007, et à Ottawa, en 2003.

« La ville de Hamilton est fière d’accueillir à nouveau les Championnats du monde ISU de patinage synchronisé, en 2022 », a affirmé le maire de Hamilton, Fred Eisenberger. « Hamilton a une riche histoire de tenue d’importants événements internationaux et nationaux de patinage, y compris les Championnats du monde ISU de patinage synchronisé 2015, qui ont connu beaucoup de succès. Nous sommes excités de travailler une fois de plus avec Patinage Canada, afin de créer une autre expérience mémorable pour tous les concurrents, commanditaires, officiels, dignitaires et amateurs de patinage. Mon bureau a formé un groupe de travail axé sur la relance économique, à la suite de la pandémie de COVID-19 et cette annonce positive, aujourd’hui, dans un secteur qui a été grandement touché par la COVID-19, indique un niveau croissant de reprise économique. »
