OTTAWA, ON: Skate Canada will formally submit a bid in April of 2021 to host the ISU World Figure Skating Championships® 2024 in Montreal, Quebec. If successful, this will be Canada’s 11th time hosting the championships. Montreal was set to host the ISU World Figure Skating Championships® 2020 but was cancelled a week prior due to the pandemic. Canada last hosted the illustrious event in 2013 in London, Ontario.

The ISU World Figure Skating Championships® is the pinnacle event of the annual figure skating season moving around the globe, attracting more than 300 million television viewers worldwide and showcasing the 200 best athletes from 50 countries in four disciplines: men’s, ladies, pair and ice dance.

“We are thrilled to put forth Montreal as the host city for the ISU World Figure Skating Championships® 2024 for consideration by the International Skating Union. Canada has an exceptional hosting history, and we would be honoured to hold the 2024 event,” said Leanna Caron, President, Skate Canada. “With all the diligence that went into planning the 2020 World Championships, the entire team is ready to welcome the world to Montreal in 2024.  We have confidence that working with all government and municipal partners together with Patinage Quebec, we will deliver an excellent event in Montreal.”

In accordance with ISU regulations, Skate Canada will submit Montreal as the host city along with supporting documents in April 2021. The 2024 host will be determined by the ISU Council and a decision is expected later this year.

OTTAWA (ONT.) – Patinage Canada a annoncé sa soumission officielle, en avril 2021, pour l’accueil des Championnats du monde ISU de patinage artistique 2024, à Montréal, au Québec. Si cette soumission est acceptée, il s’agira de la onzième fois que le Canada accueille l’événement. La ville Montréal devait être l’hôte des Championnats du monde ISU de patinage artistique 2020, mais ceux-ci ont été annulés une semaine avant leur début, en raison de la pandémie. Le Canada a accueilli pour la dernière fois l’illustre événement en 2013, à London, en Ontario.

Apogée de la saison annuelle de patinage artistique, les Championnats du monde ISU de patinage artistique sont tenus à divers endroits dans le monde, attirant plus de 300 millions de téléspectateurs, à l’échelle internationale, et mettant en vedette 200 des meilleurs athlètes de 50 pays dans quatre disciplines : hommes, femmes, patinage en couple et danse sur glace.

« Nous sommes ravis de proposer à l’Union internationale de patinage (ISU) la ville de Montréal, comme hôte des Championnats du monde ISU de patinage artistique 2024. Le Canada a des antécédents d’accueil exceptionnels et nous serions honorés de présenter l’événement de 2024 », a déclaré Leanna Caron, présidente de Patinage Canada. « Compte tenu de la planification diligente des Championnats du monde 2020, toute l’équipe est prête à accueillir le monde entier à Montréal, en 2024. Nous sommes persuadés que conjointement avec tous les partenaires gouvernementaux et municipaux et Patinage Québec, nous mettrons en œuvre un excellent événement à Montréal. »

Conformément aux règlements de l’ISU, Patinage Canada proposera la ville de Montréal comme hôte et fournira les documents à l’appui, en avril 2021. L’hôte de 2024 sera déterminé par le conseil de l’ISU, dont la décision est attendue plus tard cette année.
