As part of I·SPARC’s Healthy Living Activities, our Leader Training Sessions offer two days of workshops, providing participants with the tools and resources to deliver their own healthy living program. Participants have the option of training in either the Aboriginal RunWalk or the Honour Your Health Challenge:
- Aboriginal RunWalk: lead your participants in an 8 – 13 week training program, preparing for a 5 or 10 km run/walk event
- Honour Your Health Challenge: develop your own program focused on physical activity, healthy eating, respecting tobacco or healthy families – past programs include creating a community cookbook, “Family Fitness Fridays,” planting medicinal tea gardens, “Kick the Nic” tobacco program, “Moccasin Mamas,” and many more.
This year’s agenda includes workshops in the Holistic Wellness Model, Sports Injury, Cannabis Harm Reduction, Mental Wellness, Traditional Food and a number of active sessions including Nordic Walking, Yoga, FitNation, and Pound.
Training sessions are free to attend with accommodation and travel subsidies provided based on our travel policy.
All participants are eligible to apply for up to $1000 in grant support of their Aboriginal RunWalk or Honour Your Health Challenge program.
Please post and share our Save the Date poster with any friends, colleagues, or family that may be interested in becoming a Healthy Living Leader.
“I had a great time learning these last two days. The amount of networking that can be done was unreal! I look forward to running multiple programs!
