OTTAWA – The 2021 Olympic and Paralympic Trials presented by Bell will officially get underway at Montreal’s Claude Robillard Sports Complex on Friday, June 25. The three-day meet will feature more than 180 Olympic/Paralympic hopefuls in 28 events – all of which were identified as essential for Canadian athletes who are looking achieve the qualification standard for Tokyo or increase their World Rankings position. The Trials are categorized as a World Athletics ‘D’ meet, which includes bonus points for the Top 8 in each event.
 
As previously communicated, the Claude Robillard track and field facility will be closed to all spectators, including members of the media. Several recourses, including historical results, statistics and live results, will be made available prior to and during the meet at www.athletics.ca/trials2021, while media representatives who complete the media accreditation form by Thursday, June 24, will have access to the following:

  • Photos – for editorial use, including web, social and television broadcasts
  • Audio clips
  • Video clips courtesy of RunnerSpace
  • Daily updates
  • Start lists and results

Athletes will be available to the media by request via Zoom. Members of the media are asked to email Athletics Canada’s Communications and Marketing Manager, Amanda Nigh (amanda.nigh@athletics.ca), to make the appropriate arrangements. Unless competing in more than one event, athletes will be available following each final or at a time that is convenient for both parties.

Video clips will be made available online through MXZN’s Athletics Canada media portal, which will be accessible by accredited media starting Friday, June 25.
