Read Dina Bell-Laroche’s latest blog, “The Cost of Doing Good: Athlete Activists Pay the Price”

March 28, 2024 – Sport Law is committed to sharing relevant knowledge to sport leaders using a variety of mediums including newsletters, webinars, workshops, keynotes, educational sessions, and blogs.

Power imbalances in society are also reflected in sport, with athletes often paying the price. There can be a cost to speaking up that can leave athletes feeling marginalized and ostracized. Despite the power struggles, (or because of it), sport culture is shifting, and progress is being made. In her latest blog, Dina speaks to social justice topics affecting athletes including systemic violence, power, privilege, intersectionality, and disenfranchised grief. She also offers ways we can restore health in the sector by acknowledging the invisible forces of oppression that perpetuate harm and committing to a values-based approach.
