Physical and Health Education Canada (PHE Canada) – National Award Program Recognizes Schools for their Commitment to Providing Quality Physical Education Programs. 

Physical and Health Education Canada (PHE Canada) has announced the launch of the Quality Daily Physical Education (QDPE) Award application for 2018-2019. Schools are assessed against standardized criteria, which includes the amount of daily physical education; lesson plans and assessment strategies; professional development opportunities for teachers; and fun, fair, cooperative programming, among others. Qualifying schools are assigned a star level from one star to four star and receive the official title “QDPE” or “QPE” school; the opportunity to purchase a banner to hang in their school gymnasium; national publicity; a letter of congratulations from the Prime Minister and the PHE Canada President; and a personalized certificate with their school’s name. Any Canadian school can apply online before March 13^th, 2019 at http://phecanada.ca/qdpeaward

Over 340 schools across Canada received a QDPE Award in the 2017-2018 school year. This translates to over 145,000 children benefiting from a quality physical education experience that will build in them the foundation to be active and healthy for life.
