Drummondville, le 19 novembre 2022 – Le tableau du simple du Challenger Banque Nationale de Drummondville a atteint l’étape des demi-finales, alors que quatre joueurs sont encore en lice pour les grands honneurs de cette épreuve du Circuit Challenger de l’ATP dotée d’une bourse de 80 000 $. Le tournoi se déroule au Tennis intérieur René-Verrier, à Drummondville, au Québec, jusqu’au 20 novembre.

Un de ces demi-finalistes est un Canadien. En effet, vendredi, Vasek Pospisil (Vernon, BC) a eu raison du Français Harold Mayot en des comptes de 6-3 et 7-6(3). Le vétéran de 32 ans, qui est la troisième tête de série du tournoi, a aisément mis la main sur la première manche et a comblé un déficit d’un bris au deuxième acte pour s’envoler avec la victoire. Samedi, Pospisil participera à sa sixième demi-finale du Circuit Challenger de la saison. Il croisera alors le fer avec le Français Antoine Escoffier qui a mis plus de trois heures à se débarrasser de Tunisien Aziz Dougaz en trois manches de 6-7(13), 7-6(5) et 7-6(2).

– The singles draw at the Drummondville National Bank Challenger has reached the semifinal stage with four players remaining in title contention at the $80,000 ATP Challenger Tour event being held at the René-Verrier Indoor Tennis Club in Drummondville, Quebec until November 20.

One of the semifinalists is Canadian Vasek Pospisil (Vernon, BC) who defeated Harold Mayot of France 6-3, 7-6(3) in Friday’s quarter-finals. The 32-year-old veteran, seeded third in the tournament, wrapped up the opening set in a timely fashion and erased a break deficit in the second frame to secure a straight sets victory. On Saturday, Pospisil will appear in his sixth Challenger semifinal of the season when he takes on sixth-seeded Frenchman Antoine Escoffier who needed more than three hours to get the better of Aziz Dougaz of Tunisia 6-7(13), 7-6(5), 7-6(2) in his round of eight contest.
