Ottawa Sport Council: Risk Management – how Mitigating Risks Inspires a Safe, Welcoming and Holistic Return to Sport

OTTAWA  (May 19, 2021)

The Ottawa Sport Council is inviting Ottawa community sport organizations to join us on June 5 for our Risk Management Chalk Talk, facilitated by Dina Bell-Laroche of the Sport Law and Strategy Group. This workshop, the third topic in Rebound – a free 6-part program to complement and enhance the resources found in the Ottawa Return to Play Roadmap, will focus on the risks related to the pandemic and how to ensure a safe return to sport.

Managing Risk in a Pandemic Environment
The current environment requires community sport organizations to understand how to identify, mitigate and communicate risks related to the pandemic as well as communicate their commitment to a safe return to sport. This Chalk Talk will look to explore mitigation tactics for the current risks of the COVID-19 pandemic and looking forward to a post-pandemic environment.

What can you expect during the workshop?
• The one-day risk management workshop is an opportunity to understand the importance and implications of risk management

• The workshop will provide an overview of the four steps of the risk management process: identifying your risks, assessing your risks, treating your risks, and risk management commitments.

• Participants will discuss current risk management practices and how to move forward confidently.
