In honour of International Women’s Day, join Canadian Women & Sport (formerly CAAWS) this Thursday in Ottawa for a conversation on what it means to play your part in the movement for gender equity.

Date and Time: Thursday March 5, 2019, 11:30 – 2:00 PM

Location: RA Centre, 2451 Riverside Drive, Ottawa

Cost: $10

Event Description:

To achieve gender equity in sport, we need individual athletes, coaches, administrators, and leaders to come together and envision a better future. We also need connections between women, men, and people of diverse gender identities.  How do we build these connections? As individuals, how can we influence change and empower others to do the same? What does it mean to use your power to build a more equitable world?

To help us start to answer these questions, we’ll hear from three leaders in sport, equity, and social change:

  • Karen O’Neill, CEO of the Canadian Paralympic Committee
  • Debbie Owusu-Akyeeah, feminist advocate, policy analyst, and President of Harmony House women’s shelter
  • Sally Dimachki, Manager of Programs and Community Engagement at Refugee 613 and Chair of the G(irls) 20 Summit Steering Committee
