Ontario Teams Secure Gold at the 2023 National Dodgeball Championships

Toronto: Eight top ranking teams from Ontario who qualified for the National Dodgeball Championships traveled to Montreal, Quebec from April 7-9, 2023 to compete with Canada’s best. The
National Dodgeball Championships are held annually and host over 300 athletes from across Canada
who compete in men’s and women’s divisions using the World Dodgeball Federation rules for foam-style
dodgeball.

Dodgeball Ontario is proud to announce that in the women’s division Toronto Reckless coached by Joshua Huestis
Sakura, and in the men’s division Toronto Mavericks coached by Victor Gravili both won gold for their
tournament performance in Montreal.

“We are ecstatic and proud to have the gold medals in both divisions return to Ontario for another
consecutive year,” says Bianca Segatto, President of Dodgeball Ontario. “Ontario has been a dominant
force in competitive dodgeball with elite athletes around the province. Many of these athletes were
members of Team Canada at the 2022 World Championships where Canada took gold in women’s and
mixed divisions and bronze in the men’s division.”

Dodgeball is rapidly growing as a competitive sport with National Sport Organizations all over the world.
Upcoming opportunities to see these athletes in action are June 10-11 in Waterloo, ON for the Canadian
Mixed Open, and August 12-13 in Burlington, ON for the Canadian Cloth Open.
