Ontario Sport Network extends Emergency Relief Community Sport and Recreation Grant application deadline

Ontario Sport Network (OSN) has extended the application window for the $7 million Emergency Relief Community Sport & Recreation Grant that provides financial assistance to community-level organizations looking to reintroduce vital sports and recreation programming to their community. As part of the Ontario provincial government’s pandemic recovery plan, the grant will aid in providing economic support through sport and recreational activities, imperative to the well-being of Ontario communities.  The new application deadline is Friday, May 13th, at 11:59PM.  Full grant details can be found at https://www.ontariosportnetwork.ca/emergency-grant.

“We’re proud to provide a grant program to our beloved community organizations who are in most need, says Patsy Coyle, Managing Director of Ontario Sport Network. “As community sport and recreational programs are working hard to re-emerge as the sector resumes to full capacity after two years of COVID-19 restrictions , we are committed to stabilizing the sport and recreation community across the province – something that’s more important than ever before.”

The program is open to sport and recreation organizations that benefit Ontario’s local communities and have experienced hardships due to the pandemic, beyond the traditional Ministry-recognized Provincial Sport Organization (PSO)/Multi-Sport Organization (MSO) system and Member Clubs. Including, but not limited to, grassroot clubs, teams, leagues, and associations, including both for-profit and non-profit, whether that be a local dance club, lacrosse league, yoga studio or euchre team.  It is understood that many sport and recreation direct delivery organizations have been under financial pressure due to COVID-19 and therefore a large number of submissions are expected and the application process may be very competitive.

The financial relief program is part of the provincial government’s 30-million-dollar investment to stabilize various levels of Ontario’s sport and recreation sector, funded by the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism & Culture.
