Ontario Soccer – Ontario Soccer announces 2020 Provincial Projects invites

Ontario Soccer is pleased to announce the selections for the 2020 Provincial Projects. 

The selected athletes, between 40-50 per age group and gender, were previously evaluated at the Provincial Screening Competition in October or throughout the year and will now be further screened as part of the Provincial Projects. 

The screening sessions and the preparation weekends will take place at the Ontario Soccer Centre, before the final rosters selections for the Provincial Teams are announced in April.

Ontario Soccer Summit 2020 Early Bird Tickets have sold-out

The Ontario Soccer Summit 2020 tickets are in hot demand. 

Ontario Soccer announced this week that Early Bird Tickets for the Feb. 21-23, 2020 event, held in Hamilton at Redeemer University College, have sold-out in record time. 

Less than 20 days after going on sale and three weeks before the cut-off date, the first block of tickets have completely sold-out and now Regular Price tickets are available to the public. 

With Regular Price Tickets now on sale, Ontario Soccer will, next week, announce another crop of fantastic presenters and panellists that will be attending the 2020 event.

14 Ontario players called to Canadian Men’s squad for decisive Concacaf Nations League match

Canada Soccer have announced their squad for a crucial away match in the 2019-20 Concacaf Nations League against rivals USA. 

At stake in the upcoming November window is first place in Group A of Concacaf Nations League and a spot in the Final Four in the inaugural season of the competition. The Nov. 15 match also offers valuable points on the FIFA World Rankings, which will determine Canada’s pathway to the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.

Ontario Futsal Cup registration now open for all divisions

For the first time ever, the sport of futsal will be introduced in the 2020 Ontario Winter Games. 

The 2020 Ontario Futsal Cup will be played in the Winter Games in the U-18 Boys and Girls divisions. Teams that enter the Ontario Futsal Cup in these divisions will be given an opportunity to qualify for the Final Round of the Ontario Futsal Cup, which will be held at the Ontario Winter Games. 

Registration for the U-18 division, as well as other divisions, are now open for the Ontario Futsal Cup.

Application details for 2020 Ontario Cup semi-final hosting 
Ontario Soccer is now accepting bids from District Associations interested in hosting the Ontario Cup Semi-Finals in 2020. 

The 2020 Ontario Cup Semi-Finals will be held on Aug. 29-20, 2020. The deadline for submitting a bid to host the Ontario Cup Semi-Finals is January 18, 2020.

Five winners selected from Player Recruitment/Retention Survey 
Led by the Board of Directors, Ontario Soccer is conducting research on player registration that focuses on Player Recruitment and Player Retention. 

Ontario Soccer recently asked Parents, or Parents of children who have not registered in soccer over the last two years, to take a survey on their experiences in soccer. 

Those who participated in the survey were entered into a draw to win an Ontario soccer prize pack.

Registration is now open for Goalkeeping Coach Diploma Course
Ontario Soccer has announced the upcoming Goalkeeping Coach Diploma Course, which is being held at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan on Dec. 5 and 6, 2019. 

The Goalkeeper Diploma Course is an in-person workshop, produced by Ontario Soccer, that combines theoretical and practical components on Goalkeeping Coaching.

Ontario teams win one Gold and two Silvers at Toyota National Championships

Ontario teams brought home a gold medal and a pair of silver medals from the Toyota National Championships. 

Ottawa TFC Academy won the Girls U-17 Cup in Charlottetown, PEI. 

Woodbridge SC settled for silver after narrowly falling to Calgary’s Foothills 1-0. 

Ottawa St. Anthony went undefeated through group play but fell to Surrey’s Central City Breakers 2-0 in the Gold Medal game.

Ontario Soccer releases 2019-2021 Strategic Plan

Ontario Soccer is pleased to announce its, Board of Directors approved new Strategic Plan for 2019-2021, which will serve as a road map for soccer in the province over the next three years. 

The Strategic Plan will focus on four key areas of the sport and within those areas, each have three Strategic Initiatives where Ontario Soccer will look at tackling opportunities on and off the field.
