Toronto (August 12, 2024) – Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO) would like to congratulate Team Canada on a successful Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Canadian Team delivered inspiring and powerful performances, bringing home 27 medals – 9 Gold, 7 Silver, 11 Bronze. Canada’s best ever finish and most Gold medals at a non-boycotted Olympic Games.
Ontario athletes dominated at the Games winning a total of 15 medals – 5 Gold, 5 Silver, 5 Bronze. Ontario athletes won 56% of Team Canada’s medals.
Many Ontario and CSIO affiliated athletes made history at the Games, but it was truly the summer of Summer, with Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh becoming the first Canadian to win three gold medals at one Olympic Games. She was the Olympic Champion in the Women’s 200m Butterfly, the Women’s 200m Individual Medley, and the Women’s 400m Individual Medley. Summer is also bringing home a fourth medal, a silver in the Women’s 400m Freestyle.
Another CSIO affiliated athlete made history – Andre De Grasse and his Gold medal performance (along with teammates Aaron Brown, Jerome Blake, and Brendon Rodney) tied him with swimmer Penny Oleksiak (7 Olympic medals each) as the most decorated Canadian Olympian of all time.
From the water to the field, the mat to the track, CSIO affiliated athletes won an impressive 17 medals in Paris – 7 Gold, 6 Silver, 4 Bronze, including 2 Gold, 3 Silver, 3 Bronze won by athletes supported through the Ontario High Performance Sport Initiative (OHPSI).

- CSIO affiliated athletes Ethan Katzberg and Camryn Rogers won the Men’s and Women’s Hammer Throw respectively – their double gold is just the third time that one nation has won both men’s and women’s hammer throw gold at the same Games, and a first for Canada.
- Countless Canadian Records and Personal Bests were set by Ontario athletes including in Swimming, Athletics, Canoe Kayak, and Track Cycling to name a few!
