CALGARY – Nexxice, from Burlington, Ont.,
won the gold medal in the open category and silver in intermediate to conclude the 2020 Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships on Sunday.
In the open event, Nexxice earned 165.56
points for its second victory of the competition and fourth medal overall. Nova, from St-Hubert, Que., took the silver at 148.20 and Cassiopée from Sherbrooke, Que., was third at 139.11.
‘’It’s an incredible feeling, our team has
been working so hard this year,’’ said Elly Beaudoin of Nexxice. ‘’We came here determined to successfully defend our title and with this skate today we were able to make that happen.’’
In the intermediate division, Golding ice
from Blainville, Que., were the winners with 108.40 followed by Nexxice at 106.87 and Les Éclypses, from Mirabel, Que., were third at 102.13.
‘’It feels so great, we are all so happy
right now,’’ said Audrey Coulombe-Collins of Golding Ice. ‘’We were really focused for our skate and we knew what we had to do.’’
Winners on Saturday were Les Suprêmes from
St-Léonard in senior, Nexxice in junior and Gold Ice, from Brampton, Ont., in novice.
