New qualifiers determinedfor 2025 Scotties and Trials

In light of this week’s team announcements, Curling Canada can confirm changes to previously announced teams for the 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Thunder Bay, Ont., as well as the 2025 Canadian Curling Trials in Halifax.

With Team Carey no longer eligible for those events due to not having three of the four players who initially qualified, its spot in the 2025 Scotties will now be taken by Team Selena Sturmay of Edmonton based on the 2023-24 Canadian Team Ranking System.

For the Trials, Team Carey had qualified as the highest-ranked team on the 2023-24 CTRS that didn’t qualify by winning the 2024 Scotties (eg. Team Rachel Homan). That spot will now be taken by Team Kerri Einarson.

All of the moves, as well as the injury exemption for Shannon Birchard of Team Einarson, follow the guidelines set out in Curling Canada’s Internal Nomination Procedures for the 2026 Winter Olympics and Trials qualifying process.
