Curling Canada – The world’s most famous national women’s curling championship is headed to Cape Breton, as the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts will be played later this season in Sydney, N.S.

The Canadian Women’s Curling Championship is scheduled for Feb. 16-24 at Centre 200.

For media requiring credentials, please apply on-line at www.curling.ca/championships/media-accreditation-request-form/, by no later than Feb. 10, 2019. Shortly before the event, you will be sent a confirmation letter outlining the on-site accreditation pickup procedures.

Those requesting credentials must also email a high-resolution mugshot of themselves to media@curling.ca to make the on-site accreditation process easier.

Please note: On-ice photographers will be required to wear black clothing and shoes and restrict themselves to designated shooting areas during the games. There will be no exceptions to this guideline. CLICK HERE to review photography guidelines.

A limited number of rooms at the Holiday Inn Sydney Waterfront is being held at a rate of $139 plus taxes per night for media looking for accommodation during the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Those needing accommodation need to book their rooms as soon as possible as space is limited. Contact Holiday Inn Sydney Waterfront Sales Coordinator Philippa Bryden (philippa.bryden@whg.com) to arrange for accommodation.

The 16-team field for the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts will be completed with the Wild Card play-in game, scheduled for Feb. 15 at Centre 200.

The winner in Sydney not only will have the prestige of being a Canadian champion, it will go on to represent Canada at the 2019 LGT World Women’s Curling Championship, presented by Pioneer Hi-Bred, March 16-24 in Silkeborg, Denmark. As well, the winning team will be Team Canada at the 2020 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Moose Jaw, Sask.
