Freestyle Canada – Moguls skiers start 2019 at Calgary Olympic Park

Calgary, January 3, 2019– It will be in front of a partisan crowd in Calgary that Canadian moguls skiers kick off the 2019 leg of the season.  Three weeks after the World Cup in Thaiwoo, where Mikaël Kingsbury was twice crowned with gold and teammate, the Canadian moguls team will want to start the year in great fashion Calgary.
 
After some well-deserved time off, it will be back to business on January 4 in Calgary where the team will be getting ready ahead of the World Cup contest on Saturday, January 12. A slightly different schedule awaits the men, who will ski in the qualifying round on Friday. The women will follow the usual routine – a qualifier on Saturday morning followed by finals in the afternoon. 
 
The Canadian athletes usually do very well in Calgary. Last year Justine Dufour-Lapointe, and Mikaël Kingsbury stepped up on the podium. Kingsbury, who clinched his 7thwin on Alberta soil will attempt to continue his early season momentum to make it a fourth consecutive win. For her part, Justine Dufour-Lapointe had a third place finish last year and will be back on skis after sustaining a small injury in Thaiwoo. Also watch for Chloé Dufour-Lapointe who registered two top-10 finishes in Thaiwoo. The Calgary World Cup will also mark the return to competition of veteran Philippe Marquis. Marquis is back after undergoing an operation to the knee following the Olympic Games in PyeongChang.
 
Fans who can’t be in Calgary for the event will be able to watch the finals on the CBC Sports and Radio-Canada Sports websites starting at 3:25 p.m. (ET). The CBC show Road to the Olympicswill rebroadcast the event on Sunday, January 7 at 1:30 (ET).
