Canada Artistic Swimming – Ottawa, ON – August 19, 2019 – Two hundred young artistic swimmers from 9 countries will compete this week at the 2019 UANA Pan American Artistic Swimming Championships in Windsor. The event runs August 19-24 at the Windsor International Aquatic & Training Centre. There are age categories from 12 & Under and 13-15 through Junior and Senior. The 12 & under Solo is the first event, which gets underway on Tuesday, August 20^th at 5:00 p.m.

Canadian athletes from Ontario and Quebec will line up against swimmers from Aruba, Brazil, Cayman Islands, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico and the United States. There will be Solo, Duet and Team events in the various age groups.

Union American Natacion (UANA) is the organization that governs Aquatic sports in the Americas, including artistic swimming, as well as swimming, open water swimming, water polo, diving, and masters. The event is hosted by Canada Artistic Swimming and its club and provincial partners.

In addition to the 200 athletes, there will also be 45 coaches, 30 officials and staff, and 50 volunteers involved in the event. Canadian judges attending are: Lesley Ahara, Lisa Balcombe, Laura Ealing and Louise Newburry. Prior to and immediately following the event, Canada Artistic Swimming is hosting two training schools – one for Referees on August 17-18 conducted by Erika Lindner and a FINA Development school (Advanced Level) conducted by Diane van der Pol from August 24-26.
