Quotes:

“We progressed throughout the game, and that is what I am most happy about. A month without playing is a long time for these players, and the game was fast-paced right from the start. That affects reaction time and decision-making under pressure, but our guys got better as the game went on. Our second period was much better than the first, we were strong in the third, and overall it was a solid performance. We knew [Hungary] was going to come out strong and challenge us, and that will help us as we get deeper into the [world championship].”

  • Head coach André Tourigny (Nicolet, Que./Arizona, NHL) on his team’s performance

“It was a good game. Obviously, we are still developing chemistry, but we have only had three practices and one game. As we move forward in the tournament, we are going to keep developing that chemistry and getting better.”

“[The atmosphere] was unreal. There was so much energy in the building, and it was awesome to play in front of these fans. [The Hungarians] are a really good team, and you could feel the energy in the building.”

  • Glass on the team’s first game and the crowd in Budapest

“A lot of us have not played in almost a month, so it was nice to get back into a game and continue our preparation for the tournament. It was our first time playing together, and usually we all play against each other, so it was nice to get to know each other on the ice. [Hungary] played really well, and they are a good team that was a tough opponent for us. Tonight’s game will certainly help when the tournament starts on Friday.”

  • Blais on playing with his new teammates and the challenge of the Hungarians
