Here we come… Manitoba skaters headed to National skating event!

Skate Canada Manitoba will be sending four skaters to the 2022 Canadian Tire National Skating Championships Novice Division February 26-27, 2022, competing in 2 events.  Each of skaters qualified in Regina, SK at the 2022 Skate Canada Challenge event December 1-5, 2021.  These skaters were originally scheduled to compete in Ottawa January 6-13, 2022, at the 2022 Canadian Tire National Skating Championships in Ottawa, however the Novice Event was postponed due to COVID-19.
 
Representatives:
Ava Kemp (Skate Winnipeg)/Yohnatan Elizarov (Skate Winnipeg)  Novice Pairs.  Ava and Yoni won the Novice Event at the 2022 Skate Canada Challenge Competition in Regina.  David Howes (Skate Winnipeg) and Emmet Dewar (East St Paul Figure Skating Club) will be representing Manitoba in the Novice Mens event.  They also qualified at the 2022 Skate Canada Challenge event in 13th and 16th respectively.

Skate Canada Manitoba Chair, Diane Brine, stated that she was pleased with the results that all the Manitoba skaters achieved at this years Skate Canada Challenge event, especially due to the many challenges that they have had to navigate through due to COVID-19.  Brine further stated, that it has been many years since Manitoba has had 4 skaters earn a spot at the National Championships.  The hard work and dedication our coaches and athlete development committee has started to show positive results.  We are thrilled for our skaters and know that they will continue to represent our province with pride.
 
The 2022 Canadian Tire National Skating Championships Novice Division takes place in Calgary AB starting on February 26-27, 2022, at the Seven Chiefs Sportsplex.
