Golf Québec x Aléo Foundation Scholarship program: A combination of scholarships and services
for the next generation of golfers

Montréal, February 24, 2025 – The collaboration between Golf Québec and the Aléo Foundation, established in 2014, continues this year with support in the form of scholarships and services deployed for life to the recipients. During the presentation, 27 student-golfers received $72,000 in scholarships and services to help them pursue their sporting and academic goals.

This 11th edition of the Golf Québec x Aléo Foundation Scholarship Program is made possible by generous donors including Claude ChagnonFondation Roland-Beaulieu and Groupe Park Avenue. Their donations are in addition to a portion of the proceeds from the 2024 À table pour les athlètes event, as well as donations from the Patrick Rhéaume Fund.

Patrick Rhéaume Scholarships

Patrick Rhéaume, a friend of Golf Québec, former coach and former Golf Canada Regional Director for Québec, was living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and passed away in February 2024. Involved in many ways in the world of golf in Quebec and Canada for 31 years, he wanted to leave a legacy for the sport he loved. He and his entourage therefore set up the Patrick Rhéaume Fund to support athletes whose commitment to their sport reaches a remarkable level.

“I want the Patrick Rhéaume Fund to continue to support Quebec athletes year after year. It’s important to help young people who work hard and are committed to their sport,” explained Patrick Rhéaume at a tournament held in his honour in September 2023.

Golf Québec x Aléo Foundation Program

The Golf Québec x Aléo Foundation Scholarship Program was created jointly by the two organizations to provide financial assistance and better support to young golfers, while raising awareness of the vital importance of their studies in keeping with their sporting careers.

In their words:

“Golf Québec is very proud of its association with the Aléo Foundation for over 10 years now. Since 2014, more than 300 recipients have benefited not only from the program’s scholarships, but also from the services deployed by the Aléo Foundation. It’s a program that puts the athlete first to offer them the tools to develop in all spheres of their lives, in their journey towards excellence. Naturally, I’d like to thank our generous donors who make this program possible,” shared Jean-Pierre Beaulieu, Executive Director, Golf Québec.

“Our collaboration with Golf Québec is designed to support the athletes’ athletic development and offer them the opportunity to train holistically, using the same tools and benefiting from the same professional services as athletes in other high-level sports. At the Aléo Foundation, the academic component is essential, so we also offer support services in combining sport and studies, as well as in orientation, for life, for all scholarship recipients,” added Patricia Demers, Executive Director, Aléo Foundation.

About the Aléo Foundation

Founded in 1985, the Foundation for Athletic Excellence (FAEQ) has awarded over $25 million in scholarships to nearly 5,000 outstanding student-athletes across Quebec. In order to clarify the organization’s mission to propel the athlete beyond sport, the QAAF changed its name and branding in 2022 to the Aléo Foundation. In addition to continuing to award scholarships and coaching services to tomorrow’s leaders, the Foundation confirms its personalized approach, in which the overall development and well-being of its scholarship recipients are at the heart of its actions.
