Gold for Katelyn Fung and Tazman Abramowicz

January 25, 2025 (Gatineau) – Katelyn Fung and Tazman Abramowicz both stood atop the podium in their respective events on Saturday at the Winter Senior National Championships in Gatineau.

Katelyn Fung (TDA) put in an outstanding performance on the 10m tower. She finished the event with a total of 369.60 points.

“I’m just very happy right now. First competition in 2025, start of a new cycle, it’s super exciting. I just wanted to come here and show what I’ve been working on at home, and I think I was able to put something down,” commented the Ontario native.

“One of the things I tried was visualization. It really helped me stay in my zone and focus,” she added.

Kate Miller (Ottawa Nepean) put up a tough fight against Katelyn Fung throughout the day, finishing 2nd in the final with a total of 351.30. Julianne Boisvert of Club de plongeon l’Envol took 3rd place with 291.05.

Tazman Abramowicz (Dive Calgary) won the gold medal on 1m springboard. The judges gave him a total of 401.00 points for his six dives.

“I’m really, really happy with my weekend. I lacked a bit of consistency in my dives in training before coming here so I’m really happy to have been able to show a good list here. I’ve also been working a lot on the way I compete over the last few months and it’s really working. That’s an important thing to remember,” said Abramowicz.

Cédric Fofana (CAMO) took 2nd place with a score of 361.65. Also from Calgary, Ernest Braitenbach finished on the third step of the podium with 320.55 points.

Emmitt Reesor (TDA) took silver with 379.85 points. Tazman Abramowicz (Calgary) finished 3rd with a score of 373.45.

The CAMO Diving Club took all three medals in the women’s 1m event. Montrealer Amélie-Laura Jasmin earned top honours and became a Canadian champion for the first time in her career. She scored 269.75 for her five dives.
