September 23, 2025 (OTTAWA, ON) – The Alliance to End Homelessness Ottawa, along with its members and partners, is launching the first annual Race to End Homelessness on Saturday, October 4, 2025. This new run/walk offers 1K, 5K or 10K distances and will raise awareness, funds, and community momentum to address homelessness in Ottawa. By running or walking participants can demonstrate their support for a future where everyone has a home.
The event is supported by 2B Developments, Connect2 Knowledge, Hobin Architecture Ltd., Homeward Public Affairs, and the RA Centre.
“Ending homelessness is absolutely possible. Prevention, rapid housing, and stronger coordination across the city can stop the cycle of homelessness,” says Kaite Burkholder Harris, Executive Director of the Alliance to End Homelessness Ottawa. “Ottawa has the ability to lead this cause, and with the support of residents, organizations, and leaders like Mayor Sutcliffe and our City Council, solutions are within reach.”
This past week, Mayor Mark Sutcliffe underscored his commitment to tackling one of the city’s biggest challenges by launching a campaign to end Youth Homelessness by 2030 and his first activity towards this is running in the upcoming Race to End Homelessness on the RA Centre and Confederation Heights grounds.
Sutcliffe emphasizes that while the challenge of homelessness is complex, real solutions are possible.
“I have pledged to end youth homelessness in Ottawa by 2030 and give young people the stability they need to build their future. By working together with community leaders like the Alliance to End Homelessness, we can get this done, says Mayor Mark Sutcliffe. “I’m looking forward to taking part in the Race to End Homelessness, which will raise both awareness and vital funds for the 75 social service agencies that are part of the Ottawa Alliance to End Homelessness.”
The Alliance to End Homelessness Ottawa invites all Ottawa residents to register, donate, and help build solutions. Visit https://raceroster.com/events/2025/106339/race-to-end-homelessness to sign up.
