[TORONTO, ON] – June 10, 2024 – Fast and Female, a registered Canadian charity committed to empowering girls through sport, physical activity, and education, is thrilled to announce another exciting season ahead for Built to Run: Women’s Only Running Program!

The Built to Run (BTR) program was first started by Fast and Female and Girls & Women in Motion (GWIM), a grassroots organization in Scarborough, Ontario, in 2023. The program aimed to build community through running and walking for all women aged 18 and above. Following its success, BTR is back for another full season!

Participants in the Built to Run program will meet weekly at designated locations in their communities for 60-minute sessions, which will include a warm-up, a 3-5 km course that everyone completes at their own pace, a cool-down, snacks, and networking.

The program is designed to be an inclusive and engaging way for women to connect with each other, build community, and encourage movement. Built to Run is also designed to prepare for local, organized runs, with Fast and Female listed as a charity of choice. In 2024, participants will be training for four runs across Canada.

These runs include 5 Peaks Running Series (Apr. – Sept.) across AB, BC, and ON; the Scarborough 5K (Aug. 10) in Scarborough, ON; the Royal Victoria Marathon in Victoria, BC (Oct. 11-13); and the Toronto Waterfront Marathon in Toronto, ON (Oct. 19 & 20).
