Diving Canada – Jordane Legault earns third career title at 2019 Speedo Junior Development Nationals

 

REGINA – Jordane Legault of Blainville, Que., won her second medal this week and third career Canadian title with a victory Saturday on girls one-metre in the 12-13 age group at the 2019 Speedo Junior Development Nationals diving competition.

 

Legault collected 312.15 points with Keira Lu of Victoria second at 297.30 and Megan Lupa of Burlington, Ont., third at 294.45.

 

‘’It was nice to come back and win this event,’’ said Legault, second on three-metre on Thursday. ‘’I showed a lot of consistency again but this time the dives were a little bit better overall.’’

 

In the boys 11 and under platform, Dean Calfacacos of Pointe-Claire, Que., became the first double champion of the meet with 245.60. Mattias Frohloff of White Rock, B.C. was second at 229.80 and Claude Olivier Lisée Coderre of Montreal was third at 208.20.

 

‘’I was really proud of my last inward dive,’’ said Calfacacos, also the one-metre winner on Friday. ‘’It’s been a good one for me this season.  I’m really looking forward to the three-metre and I hope I can well on it.’’

 

In the girls 11 and under three-metre, Sara Lupa of Burlington, Ont., earned her second medal of the competition with the victory with 230.10. Isa Koop of Edmonton was second at 226.05 and Lila Stewart of Regina third at 208.25.

 

‘’It was great to see my improvement each day,’’ said Lupa, fifth on one -metre Thursday and third on platform on Friday. ‘’On the last dive I just followed what my coach told mel and I was able to get the scores I needed to win.’’

 

Competition ends Sunday at the Lawson Aquatic Centre.
