Water Polo Canada – Ottawa, ON, April 16, 2019 – Water Polo Canada high performance branch announced earlier today that David Paradelo is being promoted to the position of Head Coach with the Senior Women’s National Team. He will replace Theocharis Pavlides at the head of the Women’s National Team Program.
“In light of our most recent assessments, Water Polo Canada has decided to implement a positive change for the program and promote our current NextGen Lead Coach David Paradelo to the position of Head Coach with the Women’s National Team. David has been one of Canada’s brightest stars over the past six years. He has worked with many of the current players and we are confident that his leadership will support the future achievements of the program, starting this summer and through Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.” indicated Water Polo Canada’s High Performance Director, Justin Oliveira.
“We want to thank Theocharis Pavlides for the work he has done with us at the helm of the Women’s program since the fall of 2016. A silver medal at the 2017 FINA World League Super Final and 4th place at the 2017 FINA World Championships are two wonderful highlights of his valued contribution. I’m confident that the appointment of David Paradelo is the right decision for the Women’s National Team as our high performance team continues to follow the strategic direction towards Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. David is a key leader within our community, and we believe he is ready to guide the women’s national team to future success.” commented Water Polo Canada’s Executive Director, Martin Goulet.
David Paradelo will now act as the Head Coach of the Senior Women’s National Team as the athletes start their preparation for the upcoming international competitions, including the 2019 FINA World Championships and 2019 Pan American Games.
