CPC statement on the passing of the Accessible Canada Act

Canadian Paralympic Committee – Ottawa, May 30, 2019 – The House of Commons officially passed Bill C-81, known as the Accessible Canada Act, on Wednesday night. Minister Carla Qualtrough, a former Paralympian, has led the development and strengthening of the bill which will create a more accessible and inclusive Canada. 

Statement from Marc-André Fabien, president, Canadian Paralympic Committee: 

“On behalf of the Canadian Paralympic Committee, a huge congratulations to Minister Carla Qualtrough for her incredible and historic work on Bill C-81. The Accessible Canada Act is monumental for Canadians with a disability and a huge step forward towards creating a better, barrier-free country that is inclusive for all. We strongly believe in this legislation that is about protecting the rights of all Canadians of all abilities to participate and be active in society.”
