Grants available to enhance Para sport programming and increase quality Para sport opportunities
Ottawa, January 15, 2025 – The Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) is officially accepting applications for the 2025-26 Paralympic Sport Development Fund, a granting program that supports the growth of quality Para sport initiatives across Canada.
The Paralympic Sport Development Fund provides grants for local sport organizations, clubs, and programs that contribute to athlete and coach development along the Paralympic pathway. Funding can support initiatives related to recruitment, coaching, competition, club development, training camps, or other programming that enhances capacity to support the development and experience of athletes and coaches. This includes projects that increase collaboration across regions, provinces/territories, or multiple sports.
New for 2025-26 is support for inclusion initiatives, aimed at supporting programs or organizations looking to engage more persons with a disability in quality Para sport opportunities, increasing opportunities for under-represented groups, including but not limited to 2SLGBTQIA+, women, and Indigenous persons with a disability. These initiatives could include implementing new or enhanced programs, organizing education sessions, or facilitating knowledge mobilization.
Funding amounts of between $5,000 and $20,000 will be available. In 2024, 10 organizations received grants for a total distribution of $100,000.
“The Paralympic Sport Development Fund has had a significant impact on the growth of quality Paralympic sport opportunities in Canada,” said Karen O’Neill, CEO, Canadian Paralympic Committee. “Paralympic sport has the power to affect positive change towards a more inclusive and accessible society. The programs and initiatives led by Paralympic Sport Development Fund grant recipients help increase opportunities for people with a disability to participate in sport and reach their goals. We look forward to supporting the instrumental work of more Para sport organizations across the country.”
The Paralympic Sport Development Fund is made possible through funding from the Paralympic Foundation of Canada. Since the fund’s inception in 2016, more than $1.3 million has been granted to sport organizations across Canada.
