CBC Sports to Provide in-Depth Coverage of The Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, Oct. 20 to Nov. 5

All major events to livestream on CBC Gem and CBC Sports digital platforms starting Oct. 20, with live coverage hosted by Anastasia Bucsis streaming daily beginning Monday, Oct. 23

A team of 470 athletes will represent Canada at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, including 15 Olympic medallists 

October 19, 2023 – CBC Sports is bringing audiences across the country all of the action from the biggest multisport event in the Americas, the Pan American Games, taking place in Santiago, Chile from Friday, October 20 through Sunday, November 5 and featuring more than 8,000 athletes from 41 countries competing in 39 sports. Extensive coverage will be available starting Oct. 20 on the free CBC Gem streaming service, cbcsports.ca, and the CBC Sports App for iOS and Android devices, with additional broadcast coverage on CBC TV as part of CBC Sports Presents weekend programming throughout the three weeks of competition. Broadcast coverage kicks off on Saturday, October 21 at 2 p.m. ET (11 a.m. PT) on CBC Sports Presents with hosts Scott Russell and Andi Petrillo breaking down the day’s events. They will be joined in-studio by Olympic medallist Brittany MacLean who will provide swimming analysis. Reporter Rob Pizzo will be on the ground in Santiago with the latest updates. 

Beginning, Monday, October 23, audiences can join host Anastasia Bucsis on CBC Gem and CBC Sports digital platforms weeknights at 6 p.m. ET for live daily coverage of all major events. She’ll be joined by Paralympian Stefanie Reid and other guest experts, including Rob Pizzo, with live updates from Santiago,  as well as Russell and Petrillo. 

Throughout the entire competition, CBC Gem and CBC Sports digital platforms will be offering multiple streaming feeds of sporting events at Santiago 2023, with a focus on Canadian athletes. Live streaming coverage of the Pan Am Games officially begins Friday, October 20 with a full day of competition starting at 8:20 a.m. ET and the opening ceremony at 7:30 p.m. ET. The official broadcaster of the 2023 Santiago Pan American Games, Pan Am Sports Channel, will also be available for free in Canada throughout the event, offering additional live feeds of sports coverage, ensuring that Canadians will have even more opportunities to follow the action at the multisport event. 

A team of 470 athletes will represent Canada at the 2023 Santiago Pan American Games, including 15 athletes who have already won Olympic medals, including gold-medal swimmer Maggie Mac Neil of London, Ontario, and Olympic weightlifting champion Maude Charron of Rimouski, Quebec. The Pan Am Games are an Olympic Games qualifier in 21 of the 39 sports, with athletes looking to confirm their spot for Paris 2024. At the 2019 Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru, Canada finished third in overall medals with 152, including 35 gold, behind the United States and Brazil.
