Ottawa, ON (April 30, 2024) – Boccia Canada today announced CBC Sports will be live streaming events from the Montreal 2024 World Boccia Cup with commentating in both official languages – a first live coverage for this event. Coverage will be available from April 30 (today) until May 5 across CBC Sports digital platforms including CBC Gem,  cbcsports.ca, the CBC Sports app for  iOS and  Android devices and the CBC Sports YouTube channel as well as the host’s YouTube channel, Défi sportif AlterGo. In collaboration with World Boccia, Défi sportif AlterGo, and Boccia Canada, TVGO webcasters will be delivering boccia onscreen to audiences across the country and beyond through digital platforms.

Since the 2014 Sochi Paralympics, the Canadian Paralympic Committee has been working with CBC/Radio-Canada and their partners to bring para sport action to audiences across Canada. This year, CBC/Radio-Canada committed to extending their coverage of the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games to include Paralympic sport feeds across their digital, television, and streaming outlets platforms both in French and English. 

“Building off the partnership established with CBC Sports and our webcast feed at the 2023 Canadian Boccia Championships, we are so pleased to now extend this cooperation to a World Boccia event,” said Peter Leyser, Executive Director, Boccia Canada. “These collaborations are critical to not only growing boccia, but all parasports across Canada. With twenty-two countries and ninety-three athletes competing at the Montreal World Boccia Cup, including many who will be in Paris at the Paralympics this summer, it will make for some great matches.”

Seasoned boccia commentators from Canada, Monique Camirand and Dimitri Bruneau, will team up to provide commentary in both French and English. Camirand will provide the play-by-play and Bruneau will cover the background on boccia including rules of the game, world ranking, history of the sport, and classification.
