CANWNT to face USA in the Allstate Continental Clásico

Canada Soccer has announced that its Women’s National Team (CANWNT) will face the U.S. Women’s National Team in the Allstate Continental Clásico on Wednesday, 2 July 2025 at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. This fixture, scheduled just one day after Canada Day, falls within the FIFA June/July international window and presents a valuable opportunity for Canada to test themselves against the world ranked number one.

With 66 past encounters, the United States is Canada’s most historic opponent, with the rivalry dating back to 1986; the same year that Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team program was established. CANWNT will be looking to end a long-standing streak, as their last victory on American soil came on November 11, 2000. This upcoming match is a pivotal opportunity for Canada and marks the first meeting between the two teams under head coach Casey Stoney.

“Facing the Olympic champions will be a great test for us. They were the best in the world in 2024 and will challenge us in areas we have been tested in yet this year. This will be a great opportunity to test ourselves and give us a barometer of where we are and what work we need to do to progress and prepare for the future” – Casey Stoney, Women’s National Team Head Coach

In their most recent meeting on 9 April 2024, during the SheBelieves Cup in Columbus, Ohio, the two nations played to a 2-2 draw, with Canada narrowly falling in the penalty shootout.

Canada’s FIFA June/July international window will also include a second match against a different opponent, to be announced at a later date.
