TORINO, ITALY – Following a successful stint in Germany earlier this month, the twelve athletes on Canada’s short track speed skating team will return to racing action this weekend in Torino, Italy for the final ISU World Cup Short Track of the season. The event runs from February 8-10 at the Tazzoli Ice Rink.

The Canadians will look to add to the 17 medals they have captured on the World Cup circuit so far this season. Eight different athletes – and all three relay teams – have found the podium since November, demonstrating the team’s depth of talent. This competition will be the last chance for the Canadian skaters to fine tune their racing before March’s World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The competition gets underway Friday with the qualifying races in all distances. The finals for the men’s and ladies 500m (1) and 1500m races will take place on Saturday, while those for the men’s and ladies 500m (2) and 1000m races, along with all three relays (men’s, ladies and mixed gender) are set for Sunday.

A detailed event schedule and live results can be found on the ISU Results Portal. The ISU’s YouTube channel will be live streaming Friday’s qualification races, while CBC Sports will have online coverage of the event on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 8:00AM ET.
