MILWAUKEE, USA – On the first day of the inaugural ISU Four Continents Speed Skating Championships, Canadian athletes collected two individual and one team medal. “I feel pretty amazing right now, winning my first silver medal. Iāve gained a lot of confidence over the past few days here in Milwaukee, trusting my skating ability and trusting my preparation for this competition. Itās always so much fun doing a team event, because it holds a different atmosphere when youāre skating and Iām proud of the girls for our gold medal [in the Team Sprint] today.”Ā āĀ Brooklyn McDougall
“I am very happy to have captured the silver medal today. There were at least ten good skaters in the 500m, and in five of ten years no one will remember who was at this competition. So the fact that the Japanese didn’t send their A Team doesn’t make a difference to me. I am happy with my race; it was very fast, no matter who was here. I have a feeling that I will be very explosive and fast in Salt Lake City for the World Single Distance Championships.”
