Multisport, interdiciplinary research on a dozen topics shared with the goal of improving Canada’s medal performances
VICTORIA, BC – Many of the brightest minds in the world of sport science gathered together on February 26th for Canadian Sport Institute Pacific’s fifth annual research day.
With a central goal of collaboration between scientists, sports and institutes of higher learning, Canadian Sport Institute Pacific (CSI Pacific) created
Research Day to help Canada’s elite Olympic and Paralympic athletes continue their strong performances on the world’s biggest stages.
“We had a great group of presentations from all of our sport science disciplines and industry partners. The research and innovation standard set by these projects demonstrates the tremendous collaboration between our sport science team and their sport partners” noted Marc Klimstra, CSI Pacific’s Lead, Innovation & Research, who spearheaded the event. “engaging in active research and innovation with our sport partners and industry collaborators make us better sport science practitioners and helps us to ensure we are doing our best to optimize our impact on athlete performance.”
Held in CSI Pacific’s Performance Lab at their Victoria campus, presentations at this year’s Research Day were made by CSI Pacific staff, as well as external partners including University of Victoria, University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University and Camosun College.
