Canadian Sport Institute Ontario Officially Launches its Regional Training Centre – Milton

TORONTO (October 12, 2023) – Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO) is excited to officially launch its Regional Training Centre (RTC) – Milton, in its newly expanded and renovated space at Mattamy National Cycling Centre.

CSIO originally moved into Mattamy National Cycling Centre following the facility’s completion after the 2015 Pan / Parapan Am Games, providing a dedicated high performance sport institute space, primarily for the provincial and national track cycling athletes who call the facility home.

CSIO’s RTC – Milton now includes a larger strength and conditioning gym, dedicated physiology sport lab, sport therapy suite, performance nutrition kitchenette, and a multipurpose meeting space to better support CSIO’s sport science and sport medicine practitioners in providing best-in-class performance and health solutions.

The expanded footprint will allow CSIO to better service all of Ontario’s provincial and national team athletes in Milton, Halton Region, and the surrounding areas, in addition to the provincial and national cycling and figure skating athletes already accessing the space.

Together with CSIO’s 23,000 sq. ft sport institute and head office at Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre, and its Regional Training Centre – Niagara, located at Canada Games Park, a legacy from the 2022 Canada Summer Games, RTC – Milton furthers CSIO’s ability to elevate people and performances in the pursuit of building champions.

To officially launch RTC – Milton, CSIO opened its doors with a media event and open house attended by local officials including MP Adam van Koeverden, Minister Parm Gill, and Mayor Gordon Krantz, as well as representatives from Provincial and National Sport Organizations, local high performance clubs, and many of CSIO’s affiliated athletes.

“CSIO is thrilled to officially launch its Regional Training Centre – Milton. CSIO thanks it’s funding partners Sport Canada and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport, for their support of this project, and recognizes the benefit it will have to high performance sport in Ontario and Canada. CSIO is also appreciative of the Town of Milton and the staff of Mattamy National Cycling Centre for their support and guidance during the renovations. We look forward to working with provincial and national team programs to welcome more high performance athletes into the space as preparations continue for Paris 2024, Milano Cortina 2026 and beyond.”
