CALGARY, ALBERTA – The Canadian Sport Institute Calgary (CSI Calgary), has signed the agreement to join Abuse-Free Sport, the independent program to prevent and address maltreatment in sport.

CSI Calgary, and its stakeholders, now have access to the services of the Office of the Sport Integrity Commissioner (OSIC), which serves as the central hub of Abuse-Free Sport. CSI Calgary participants who have experienced or witnessed abuse can go to https://sportintegritycommissioner.ca/ to report an incident.

CSI Calgary has completed the full adoption of the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS), which it must do before it can become part of the Abuse-Free Sport program and have made the required policy changes.

CSI Calgary participants will also continue to have access to independent third-party services through the following independent third party:

CSI Calgary is also pleased to launch our new Safe Sport microsite. The site is divided into three sections, PROVIDE; Providing a Platform for Reporting – PREVENT; Prevention Through Education – PROMOTE; Promoting a Safe Sport Environment.

The PROVIDE section is designed to be a place for our athletes, coaches, and staff to easily find the right information to contact someone based on the nature of a concern. Whether it is reporting of misconduct, incident, whistleblowing, or someone is looking for mental health support, this page includes information on the various platforms we have available for reporting and support.

The PREVENT sections’ purpose is to offer a central place with a vast collection of internal and external resources available to everyone in sport. The page includes resources on mental health, wellness and nutrition, injury prevention, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. We have also pulled useful websites, eLearning Modules, and other resources from organizations like True Sport, the Office of the Sport Integrity Commissioner (OSIC), Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada (SDRCC), the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport, Respect Group, Coaching Association of Canada and Game Plan to name a few.

The PROMOTE section includes all CSI Calgary updated policies related to ensuring we provide a safe, healthy, and inclusive sport environment.

We would like to acknowledge Skate Canada for their support and inspiration in the development of our safe sport site.
