Lausanne, SUI – After the third day of competition during the second stage of the Hyundai Archery World Cup in the Olympic capital of Lausanne in Switzerland, Canada remains in the competition for the Mixed Team and the Men’s Team events. Through an exciting three rounds this morning, Canadian mixed team of Stephanie Barrett and Brian Maxwell have earned their way into the Bronze medal match, following a tough quarter final match against Bangladesh. The Canadian Mixed team will compete against Mexico on Sunday at just after 11:00 in the morning local time. 

“Our training came through for us today,” according to Brain Maxwell, in comments made this afternoon. “We communicated well, supported each other and we believed in each other as teammates.” 

The Men’s Team of Duenas, Maxwell and Peters had ranked 11th following the first day of qualifications on Tuesday, and are seeded to compete against Russia in their first elimination round on Friday morning. Competition will proceed for the men’s team through the day, with the possibility of entering into the Bronze medal match Friday afternoon, or the Gold medal match on Sunday morning.

The Canadian archers have all now competed in the early individual elimination rounds, but will not advance beyond the top 16 at this World Cup.
