Fifteen Canadian skaters will travel to Milwaukee for the first edition of international competition

CALGARY, ALBERTA – A group of fifteen
Canadian long track skaters, comprised mainly of NextGen athletes, are
set to compete at the inaugural ISU
Four Continents Speed Skating Championships from January 31 to February 2 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Canada will face-off against top competitors from North America, South
America, Asia and Oceania during the first edition of this international
competition.
The team is headlined by national team sprinters Laurent Dubreuil
(Lévis, Que.) and Alex Boisvert-Lacroix (Sherbrooke, Que.), who have
both won 500m bronze on the World Cup circuit this season. They’ll be
joined by fellow fall World Cup participants Béatrice
Lamarche (Quebec City, Que.) and David La Rue (Saint-Lambert, Que.),
along with eight additional skaters slated to compete at next month’s
World Cup stop in Calgary.
Defending national junior champion Alexa Scott (Clandeboye, Man.) will
also participate in Wisconsin, using the event as a final tune-up before
making her way to Poland at the end of February for her third
consecutive ISU World Junior Championships.
The Canadian long track team will look to follow in the success of their
short track counterparts, who won an impressive nine medals at the
first-ever Four Continents Short Track Championships last weekend in
Montreal.
