Canada’s Junior Men’s Epee Team Finishes in Top 10 At World Cup In RIGA

Canadian Fencing Federation – Over the weekend, Senior Men’s Foil and Junior Men’s Epee athletes were in action in Bonn, Germany and Riga, Latvia. In total, 18 Canadian athletes competed at their respective World Cup’s.

The Junior Men’s Epee team, comprised of Fynn Fafard (British Columbia, DYN), Seraphim Hsieh Jarov (British Columbia, DYN), Mateo Kadyszewski (Quebec, OM), and Ted Vinnitchouk (Ontario, TFC) came 9th at the World Cup. They beat the Japanese team in the 32’s, 45-42, but unfortunately fell in the 16’s to Italy with a close bout of 36-34. Canada currently holds a place in qualifications for Tokyo 2020 in Team Men’s Epee.

Upcoming action will see athletes heading to Cairo to participate in a World Cup for Senior Men’s Sabre, as well as Senior Women’s Foil (November 16-17). Additionally, our Junior athletes will seek top finishes at World Cup events in Men’s Foil in Guatemala City and Men’s Epee in San Salvador.
