Freestyle Canada – Coming up: double moguls program in Tazawako; third World Cup event for aerialists
Montreal, February 21, 2019– The Canadian moguls athletes are back in action after a short one-week break at home following the World Championships in Deer Valley. They are making their way to Tazawako, Japan, where a double program awaits them on Saturday and Sunday.

This is the final stretch for veteran Philippe Marquis, who will finish his career after this road trip with the team. Meanwhile, Mikaël Kingsbury will be aiming for his 55th career podium. On the women’s side, we can expect fierce competition for medals, since at their last World Cup, the Dufour-Lapointe sisters placed third and fourth, and Sophie Gagnon is gaining ground on the international scene.

The following athletes will represent Canada:

Mikaël Kingsbury (Deux-Montagnes, QC) Justine Dufour-Lapointe (Montreal, QC)
Philippe Marquis (Quebec City, QC) Chloé Dufour-Lapointe (Montreal, QC)
Laurent Dumais (Quebec City, QC) Sofiane Gagnon (Whistler, BC)
Brenden Kelly (Pemberton, BC)
Kerrian Chunlaud (Sainte-Foy, QC)
Gabriel Dufresne (Repentigny, QC)
Simon Lemieux (Repentigny, QC)

The aerialists, in the meantime, will continue their overseas trip and stop in Minsk, Belarus, where they’ll compete in their third FIS World Cup of the season on Saturday, February 23. Podium hopes are high for the two Canadians on the roster, since both skiers have added new jumps to their runs, which could propel them to the top of the standings. Félix Cormier-Lapointe got his best career result at the World Cup last weekend in Moscow when he placed fifth.

The following skiers will represent Canada:

Félix Cormier-Boucher (Saint-Mathias-sur-Richelieu, QC) Catrine Lavallée (Montreal, QC)
