Canada Wins the FIBA 3X3 Women’s Series Prague

Canada Basketball – TORONTO, Ont. (Aug 3, 2019) – Team Canada defeated Poland 19-14 on Saturday to win the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series Prague.

Entering the tournament as the No. 6 seed, Katherine Plouffe, Michelle Plouffe, Paige Crozon and Mariah Nunes represented Canada this weekend in Prague.

Canada went 3-0 with wins over Spain (12-9), Belarus (21-14) and Hungary (21-15) to finish first in Pool B and advance directly to the semifinals.  After defeating Russia 16-10 in the semifinal, Canada beat Poland in the finals for their first tournament win in the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series.

The FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series is the first-ever FIBA 3×3 competition dedicated to women.  Each national federation can register one team at the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series. Teams then qualify for individual events based on the number of events they have already been allocated to and their team ranking.

The Women’s Series Prague was the eighth event of the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series 2019.  The 2019 season will consist of 8-12 events from May to September.  All games will be streamed live via FIBA 3×3 YouTube.

Canada has had a top four placement in each of the four tournaments they’ve entered this season.

Canada is currently ranked 40th (6th Americas) in the FIBA 3×3 Federation Rankings.
