Canada to play for beach gold in Latvia

June 04, 2022: After defeating Brazilian teams in the quarterfinal and semi today, Canada’s Sarah Pavan (Kitchener, ON) and Melissa Humana-Paredes (Toronto) will face Barbara/Carol, also of Brazil, in the Beach Pro Tour Elite 16 final in Latvia.

In the semi-final, the Canadian Olympians came back to decisively beat Eduarda (Duda) Lisboa and Ana Patricia Ramos 2-1 (18-21, 21-19, 15-10) in the tie-break set today.

The gold medal match is Sunday, June 05 at 10 am EDT. Duda/Ana Patricia will play for the bronze medal vs. Hughes/Kolinske of the U.S.

The Canadians are warming up to defend their World title won in 2019 next week in Italy at the 2022 Beach Volleyball World Championships from June 10 through 19 in Rome. This highlight of the beach volleyball season will feature the world’s best 48 teams per gender. Four Canadian teams have qualified for the main draw of this Worlds.
