Canada Soccer’s Men’s U-16 National Team Unveil two Rosters for Back-to-back Camps this Month

Canada Soccer has announced two rosters composed of 45 Canadian players from across the globe to compete in consecutive camps this month. With the announcement of the annual FIFA Men’s U-17 World Cup beginning in 2025, Canada Soccer is investing in preparing the 2026 Men’s U-17 cycle through projects for the 2009 age group, in 2025.

The first event will see Canada participate in a UEFA youth development tournament in Poland from 8-18 May with matches scheduled against Egypt on 13 May, Ireland on 15 May and Poland on 18 May. The second event will be a 16-team Friendly Tournament hosted by the Guadeloupe FA against opponents determined by a draw, with double game days on 28 and 29 May, followed by two placement matches on 30 and 31 May.

“Bringing a group of U-16 players together so early prior to the U-17 World Cup qualifiers is another statement by our organization in its commitment to investing further in the development of our high-potential youth players. We are also very fortunate to have been invited by both UEFA and the Guadeloupe FA which has made it possible to navigate club scheduling conflicts and still bring two full squads into their first Youth National Team experience,” shared Andrew Olivieri, Canada Soccer’s Men’s Youth Excel Director.

The announcement of both squads marks the first time Canada Soccer’s Men’s U-16 National Team has gathered since 2015.
