Milan, Italy (February 16, 2025) – Canada’s junior synchronized skating teams had an outstanding weekend in Europe, securing a total of four medals, including a gold captured by Team Nova on Sunday at the 2025 Spring Cup in Milan, Italy.
Provisionally second following the short program, the squad from Saint-Hubert, Quebec, delivered a remarkable free program, wrapping up the event with a total of 186.21 points and edging out Team Reflections of Finland (182.68). Golding Ice of Laval, Quebec, completed the podium with a final score of 167.55.
“Regardless of what happens the day before, we’re always able to bounce back and fight hard to achieve our goals. We’re very proud of ourselves!” said co-captain Juliette Denis of Team Nova, following the competition.
“We’re really proud of all the progress we’ve made together since the beginning of the season. This weekend was an important part of our preparation for our next event, and we’re excited to take our skating to the next level,” explained Rachel Jolette of Golding Ice.
On Saturday, two more junior Canadian teams scooped up medals at the Hevelius Cup in Gdańsk, Poland.
Ontario teams ICE Ignite of Ilderton (176.21) and Gold Ice of Brampton (167.28) remained solid throughout the competition, claiming silver and bronze, respectively, just behind the Northernettes of the U.S.A. (177.94).
“We’re extremely pleased with everything we’ve accomplished this season, including this silver medal!” said co-captain Layla Veillon.
Sarah Vretenar of Gold Ice commented, “We’re really happy with both our performances this weekend. We achieved our objectives of skating cleanly in both programs and finishing on the podium.”
