Canada Qualifies for the Knockout Rounds at FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025

Canada Soccer’s Men’s U-17 National Team (CANM17) has secured its spot in the knockout rounds of the FIFA U-17 Mens’s World Cup Qatar 2025 following a second-place finish in Group K. Canada will take on the Republic of Ireland in the Round of 32 on Friday, 14 November. The match will be Canada’s first knockout game in program history at the Men’s FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Canada defeated Uganda in their opening match 2-1, marking Canada’s first-ever win at the tournament. They followed victory with an impressive 0-0 draw against France before concluding the group stage with a 2-1 loss against Chile.

“We’ve made history again by qualifying for the knockout stage. The way we fought through adversity and held on will make us stronger heading into the next round. We’ll take the lessons from this most recent match and be ready for what’s next,” said Mike Vitulano, Men’s U-17 National Team Head Coach and Men’s Regional Excel Director

This year’s tournament features Canada’s ninth appearance at the FIFA U-17 World Cup. At the previous eight editions of the tournament, CANM17 posted a record of 0-4-20.

CANM17 will now face the Republic of Ireland on Friday, 14 November in the Round of 32.

All of Canada’s matches at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 will air live on TSN/RDS. Fans will find extended coverage across Canada Soccer’s digital channels on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, X/Twitter, Bluesky, and YouTube, featuring the hashtag #CANM17.
